The theme of the PEMEA Student Congress is “Social and Emotional Learning Competencies for Students.” The student congress aims for participants to:

 

(1) describe the social and emotional learning skills they need in order to thrive in the 21st century;

(2) reflect on their capacity to demonstrate the needed social and emotional learning skills in various situations; and

(3) identify specific steps on how they can further develop their social and emotional learning competencies.

 

Our speaker for the Student Congress is Dr. Elizabeth Randolph, Senior Education Research Analyst of RTI International, a US-based independent non-profit research institute dedicated to improving the human condition. Her research focuses on building safe and inclusive schools and fostering social and emotional learning.
